What does a link score mean
The link score is a number that we give to any particular link based on a scale of 0-100. It should be used as a gauge in valuating link purchases or in helping you in your link building efforts. The score is not a monetary value. The higher the link score, the better the link.
How We Calculate Link Score
Our methodology is based on factors we have deemed appropriate to include in the calculation of the value of a link. This comes from over 5 years in the SEO and internet marketing industries. This also includes link building programs for over 150 websites.
What Factors That Affect Link Score
Although we cant reveal to you our actual algorithm that calculates the link value, we do want you to know what factors we take into account so you know the link scoring is legitimate.
Link Type Not all links are created equal. For example a regular one way link is worth more than a reciprocal link.
Link Category You have probably heard people say that you should get links from sites relevant to yours. This is true, and the link score is higher the more relevant the link is.
Link PR For SEO purposes we believe that PR is meaningless, but for link building purposes we think PR does matter. For example, a link from a PR 8 is clearly going to be more important than a link from a PR 1.
Link URL As part of the scoring we also scan the URL where your link is or will be located. We look for things like # of outbound links on the page as well as whether the link is on the homepage or not.
These are the factors that through our experience have played the biggest role in determining whether a link is valuable or not. Based on these factors we have put together the link scoring system.
